Air Niugini - Airbus A300 Fleet

Two prototype A300B1s were built, the first of these flew from Toulouse, France on 28 Oct 1972.

The first production version flew in April 1974. The plane first entered service with Air France on May 23 1974.

Air Niugini - Airbus A310-300 Fleet

The A310 first began life as the A300B10, one of a number of projected developments and derivatives of Airbus' original A300B airliner.

The first flight of the A310 occurred on April 3 1982, after the program was launched in July 1978.

Air Niugini - Boeing 707 Fleet

The first prototype, known as the 367 Dash 80, flew for the first time on 16 July 1954.

The first production 707 (a 707-120 for Pan Am) flew on 20 Dec 1957, and entered service later the following year.

Production of commercial 707's ended in 1978 after 878 had been built. Limited production of military variants continued until 1990.

Air Niugini - Boeing 720 Fleet

The Boeing 720, first introduced in 1959, is a smaller capacity, lighter, medium range variant of the B707, given its own model number to indicate significant engineering changes from the 707.

The initial 720 (bound for launch customer United) first flew on 23 Nov 1959.

Air Niugini - Boeing 737 Fleet

The 737 was conceived as a short range small capacity airliner to round out the Boeing jet airliner family (727, 720 and 707).

The 737-100 made its first flight on 9 Apr 1967 and entered service in February 1968. The first 737-200 flew on 8 Aug 1967

Air Niugini - Dash 7 Fleet

The first prototype Dash 7 test aeroplane flew on 27 Mar 1975 and two pre-production aircraft were built for testing and certification. The first production Dash 7 (C-GQIW, S/N 3) flew on 30 May 1977. The first Dash 7 to enter service was S/N 4, with Rocky Mountain Airways (USA), on 3 Feb 1978.

Air Niugini - RJ70 Fleet

The BAe 146-100 made its first flight on 3 Sep 1981.

In 1990 BAe first offered the improved RJ70 and RJ80, both of which were based on the 146-100.

First RJ70 deliveries occurred in late 1993.

Another National Jet System craft has been leased. It is believed that this is serial number 3 - i.e. the very first off the production line. It is in the National Jet livery. (April 2004) - was still in service with Air Niugini (Jun 2004) - Now gone and Air Niugini is flying Fokker F100 aircraft
